Blame it on the lockdown, blame it on my wife, definitely blame it on me... but above all blame it on the boys, and that is how we started a backyard farm.

I want to welcome you to the Hays Clan Farm, where you will find quail laying, chickens pecking, bees buzzing, and crops growing. And kids getting told to feed, water, weed, and pick.

When you have as many boys in the house as we do you have to keep them busy. when school let out for the quarantine and my oil field job cut our hours my wife had to find something for all of us males to stay busy with. Boy did she...

It of course started with our bees, then the garden, and redoing all of her flower beds, she made Us build her a chicken coop, and we got these eight little two day old chic from Tractor Supply. I knew a buddy who had quail so I introduced ten of them. yes I love pickled quail eggs.

As I write this July is coming along and we have had a really great harvest of crops and eggs and even a little honey. 2020 hasn’t been a terrible year for the Hays Clan, but we have seen the Queen making notes and us men figure we have a lot to do next spring.
