Where do you see your self in two years? If you asked me that two years ago I would probably give you the same answer I would give you now. Running some innovation company following my technological dreams. Two years ago I was running crews for a pretty good size company in tyler texas. Today I am a Field Engineer for a Frac Company. Closer to my dream, but also closer to what I went to college for, and a hell of a lot more money.
Yes, I do it for the money. When you work 15 to 18 hours a day, 14 days at a time out in the middle of the desert good money is always the driving factor. When I applied for the job in early 2017 I had never been in the oil field in any capacity. I have a cousin who was working for a new company that was looking for good people. I applied and got a call and told to be in Midland Texas as soon as I could. That is a 6 hour drive so away I went.
The one thing I learned in my younger years, if you do not know something let it be known. So when I interviewed I was upfront and clear, I did not know crap about Hydraulic Fracturing. That is fine, they started me at the bottom, which is how I like to start, you learn alot more if you work your way from the bottom.
In my first 6 months I had advanced through every piece of equipment as a EO, ran the ChemAde, ran Pumps and pulled rig up and rig down multiple times. Most of that advancement can be laid at my supervisors feet, Jameson Jarzombek. I of course worked my tail off. I received a pay raise every two months since starting, an In 7 months I was promoted out of the EO dept, to a Electrical Technician, or as they are called E-Tech. This was fun, and right up my alley. Then I was spotted by the Engineering Department, and now I am really enjoying things.
Working long hours like I do, you spend a lot of time with your crew. They are your family. Hell I spend more time with them thank I do my family. I of course have be lucky to work with some of the best guys in the industry . Ill make some more post soon on this subject, some times you just have to Frac IT.
